October 28, 1932 - January 2, 2015
Born October 28, 1932 in Clones, Ireland. It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce Mel's passing on January 2, 2015. Mel was lucky to have two special women in his life: Predeceased by first wife Dolores and lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Irene. Also missing him are his children Bart (Cathy) Frith, Michele (Marty) Stoltz, Debbie (Jim) Nedelak, stepfamily Rob (Trudy) Howard, Roxanne Greer, grandchildren Brayden (Koral), Hayley, Melanie (Brent), Jenna, Jody (Miki), Jay (Annie), Audrey and his great-grandchild Mason as well as his beloved sisters Pat Stamnes and Olive Demidoff and families.
We would like to thank Dr. Nasir, the Oncologists, nursing staff and care workers on T12 in the Jim Pattison Building at VGH. Lion Mel will be missed in our club as he collected over 6200 pairs of used eye glass, sold hundreds & hundreds of Christmas cakes, came to all the work parties his health would let him and was a big voice in the club. He introduced lots of new members and was proud to be a Lion.
