Five Month Update

Plans for the 29th Annual Sockeye Run Car Show are proceeding. The date is: the second Sunday in June again: June 9th, 2019.

The Richmond Lions Club has selected a new Chairperson for the 2019th Car Show, Dale Isley. Dale has been an active member for many years and also is the Secretary for this chapter. Dale is only the fourth person to chair this event in 29 years.

Last year's Chairperson, Randy Scherk, is stepping down after a mere 23 years ! He was the 3rd Chairperson. Of course Randy is still helping with the event.........the second Chairperson was Harry Robertson. He was Chairperson for two years. Harry has since retired to the Vernon area.....the first Chairperson was well known Richmond Hot Rodder, Dave Boyce. He was Chairperson for the 1st Car Show and two years thereafter. Dave passed away several months ago and the club will be paying tribute to him. Visit our web site again, for further news on this event.

We had a presence at the 18th Annual Motorsport Pioneers Society event on September 29th. Congratulations to Barry Prescott for his Induction. Barry and his race car were a popular attraction at our 2018 Car Show with the Jet Powered Drag Car (NIGHTHAWK).

The graphic art for our pre event promotion has begun. Printed material was distributed in August and September 2018 and the event date for 2019 is listed on the Harrison Auto Event listing. We have an ad there as well. For our event and the listings of hundreds of others, please visit http://www.harrisonautoeventlist.com.

In addition to 30 other car clubs and organizations, we supported the annual "Kruiz 4 Kids". The event took place November 4th, 2018. The cruise ended at the Langley Event Centre this year. Further details can be found on their web site

The sixth annual Christmas Car Cruise took place on the 1st Sunday in December. December 2nd, 2018. 43 specialty cars wound their way through the streets of Steveston, B.C. All toys and proceeds went to the Richmond Christmas Fund. Their staff was on hand to pick up all the donations and to express their gratitude to all the car owners for their work and generosity.

A seminar for our car show judges is next on our agenda. We always get together to review the past year and make plans and identify the judges for the following year.

Remember, last year's winners and photographs can be found elsewhere on our web site.

We hope everyone had a good holiday season. With 2019 underway, we wish everyone a pleasant and healthy New Year.
